The podiatry program at The Jones Center helps prevent lower limb amputations.
We focus on providing comprehensive foot care that includes:
– Debridement of toenails and calluses;
– Regular diabetic foot exams by our providers and our trained podiatry technician;
– Foot care education;
– Instruction and assistance with the wearing of proper fitting diabetic shoes and inserts;
– And early detection and treatment of diabetic foot problems.
Sharon Pettigrew is our podiatry technician and a native of middle Georgia. She started in the medical field in Columbus, GA in 1991, and subsequently moved to Macon, GA in 1997. She has been in the field of podiatry since 1995. She has formal training from Boston University in podiatry and is certified in diabetic shoe fitting.
Sharon joined The Jones Center in 2007, to help start up our foot care program. She continues to complement our comprehensive care center, and provides exceptional support for our providers, in caring for our diabetic patients.
